St. Johns County Utilities Department (SJCUD) sought to expand their reclaimed water distribution system to meet projected future reclaimed demands resulting from a new development within the St. Augustine Florida area and to comply with new goals to improve groundwater resources and reduce nutrient loading— that were developed for the Lower St. Johns River (LSJR) by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). CDM Smith was contracted to design and provide engineering services during construction for approximately 12,800 linear feet (lf) of reclaimed water main along International Golf Parkway (IGP). To realize potential cost savings and prepare for future service demands, approximately 7,800 lf of parallel force main was also added to the project during design. The project was selected by the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) to receive cost-share funding equal to one-third of the estimated construction cost for alternative water supply development.
