'WHAT ARE WE THINKING?' SAFETY CULTURE ACROSS AVIATION SEGMENTS: UNDERSTANDING PILOT POPULATIONS FROM MANNED AND UNMANNED INDUSTRY VERTICALS
Building on data collected and presented in 2015, this report will introduce new survey data collected on pilot populations across industry segments. Initial results have been compared with manned segment responses from survey data collected in earlier research efforts. The goal of this research is to extract information about the safety culture of the aviation community within the United States, and across manned and unmanned aviation lines. It is anticipated that this data will help safety professionals understand and quantify the risks involved with airspace integration of sUAS into manned airspace. Manufacturers, insurance companies, and UAS Service Suppliers may also use this information to build their business cases and to promote safe operators. And overall, this information can be used to continue the discussion and promotion of a positive safety culture by airspace users.
