Zinc coated steels and Al coated steels were compared from the viewpoints of chloride corrosion and biofouling induced corrosion. Zinc coated steels had high resistances against corrosion in chloride contained environments. The addition of magnesium coating also increased the corrosion resistance. As for biofouling induced corrosion, zinc coated steels decreased the corrosion resistance. Biofilms were removed by the corrosion simultaneously. Al coated steels showed both of high corrosion resistance and high fouling resistance. Mg coating worked well to increase corrosion resistance in biofouling environments for aluminum coating steels.
