Measure automated evaluation to enhance Power Plant management

Real-time performance monitoring and on-line, real-time operational optimization of Power Plants are gradually becoming a trend in the Power Generation industry. The current Regulations in energy market force the energy producers to change their approach and criteria in Power Plant management. The idea of efficiency and the evaluations of the Power Plant profitability are not more connected just to factors like fuel consumption and power production but is enlarged to others parameters like load change capability, plant availability and time to make maintenance. To be able to predict the effect of the Plant main equipment ageing on its profitability, so to schedule the Plant maintenance to obtain the best economic performance is a key factor. In this scenario Ansaldo Energia has developed control philosophy fully integrated in the Plant Control System. The Combined Cycle Power Plants main equipment performances are automatically evaluated by the real time comparison with a large data base developed on a high quantity of operative application, giving an effective support to plan the maintenance programs and to optimize one or more variables and to find out the options to develop the more profitable Power Production plan.
