A novel optical fiber video transmission system based on dynamic payload clock recovery technology is proposed to achieve high reliability transmission performances. In this transmission system, a dynamic payload clock recovery algorithm is introduced to detect the payload clock change automatically. Compared to traditional optical fiber video transmission system, the proposed designation combines the external Digital Phase Locked Loop (DPLL) and the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) PLL to recover the payload clock accurately. Another improvement is analyzing the Camera Link protocol and encoding the video signal with additional information for the clock recovery algorithm. Finally, the performance of the designed system is demonstrated by the simulations and experiment results in actual video transmission engineering projects. The result has proved the system can operate at a rate of up to 7.14Gbps and the transmission link is stable with no error for more than 72 hours.
