Light environment in Japanese office buildings after the 3.11 earthquake - Report on field measurements and new movements of office lighting -

After the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake, Japan faced severe electricity shortage for a temporary period of time. "Working Group on Investigation into Luminous Environment with Urgent Electricity Saving Caused by 2011 Earthquake (AIJ)" investigated light environments in Japanese office buildings after the 3.11 earthquake with the cooperation of WG in Tokyo Branch, IEIJ. A new AIJ standard for lighting environment will be published in June 2016 aiming to establish new frameworks for the next generation lighting design compatible with energy conservation.
