Loop heat pipe was widely used in the field of aerospace and electronic cooling as an efficient phase change heat transfer components. The research developed a kind of stainless steel nickel ammonia loop heat pipe using the method of molten salt pore-forming, experimental study was conducted for the startup characteristic and failure characteristics of heat transfer. Experimental finding: the nickel-ammonia loop heat pipe can start when the heating power was 6w, and start time only needed 3 minutes; with the increase of heating power, heat pipe startup time increased; with the increase of heating power, loop heat pipe showed a good heat transfer characteristics when When the heating power was less than 30w; the higher of the heat load, the greater of the evaporator and steam temperature; when the load exceeded 3w, loop heat pipe evaporator will appear dry phenomenon, lead to heat pipe failure and the greater of power, the faster of the heat pipe will be failure.
