Based on the single-factor experiments of galangin extraction from the galangal, the experimental variables, the ethanol concentration (X_1), extraction temperature (X_2), extraction time (X_3), and ratio of thanol to raw materia (X_4) were estimated and optimized by the response surface methodology (RSM). The statistical analysis indicated that the independent variables X_2 and X_4 had high significant effects on the response values, so are the interaction effects between the variables of X_1X_2, X_1X_4, X_2X_3, X_2X_4; the optimum extraction conditions for galangin were ethanol concentration 90%, extraction temperature 80°C, extraction time 3h, and the ratio of ethanol to materia 25ml·g~(-1).
