The effect of a forward-swept blade on a low-speed single-stage axial flow compressor with circumferential inlet distortion was experimentally investigated.The experiment was carried out with a distortion screen covering 80 degrees of the flow passage.Full-annulus, area-traverse measurements of velocity distribution were conducted ahead of and behind the blades.The forward-swept blade increases the stable operating range and the throttle margin, compared to the radial blade.In the strong turbulence intensity region ahead of the forward-swept blade, the stall cell was observed at near stall flow rate.The spanwise flow redistribution toward the tip of the forward-swept blade, seemed to reduce the stall cell and enlarge the stable operating range.
