This paper deals with the identification of the hydraulic conductivity in an embankment.The inverse problem is solved by combining the saturated/unsaturated seepage flow analysis of the embankment and the particle filter.Measurement data are prepared by a numerical simulation of the seepage flow field with an assumed distribution of hydraulic conductivity, and the hydraulic conductivity is identified by the particle filtering.The results of the analysis reveal that measurement data for the transient hydraulic head are effective for estimating the distribution of hydraulic conductivity.
