A compatibilizer of PBS composites, PBS-g-GMA, was prepared by using the reactive extrusion technique with a twin-screw extruder. This compatibilizer was used to enhance the interaction between PBS and organoclay in organoclay/PBS composites. The mechanical properties showed that the addition of PBS-g-GMA had a good influence on the tensile strength, elongation at break, and impact strength. Moreover, PBS composites with the addition of PBS-g-GMA had slightly increased flexural strength. Furthermore, incorporation of 5 phr PBS-g-GMA into the 0.5 phr organoclay/PBS composites showed an optimum increase in tensile strength, elongation at break and impact strength compared with neat PBS. The decomposition temperature decreased after the addition of organoclay and the presence of the compatibilizer had no role in enhancing the thermal stability of the PBS composites. The changes in these properties were explained by the morphological properties, which were illustrated by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) of a tensile fractured surface of the PBS composites.
