摘要

Compression of an image demands high speed structures with good encoding and decoding architectures for major applications like medical and satellite applications which also require lossless architectures. So a highly scalable SPIHT architecture is proposed. The algorithm supports SNR scalability and the bits can be reordered to given bandwidth and resolution. The algorithm used provides the spatial scalability without sacrificing the SNR and embededness properly of the original SPIHT. The model is implemented on Spartan-3 EDK Development Board utilizes Xilinx Spartan-3 XC3S200-4TQ144 device.
