Veterinarians play an important role in promoting public health through education of clients regarding zoonotic disease risks. Conveying the balance of the risks and beneafits of animal contact can be difficult given time and privacy constraints withclients, as well as stigma or misinformation regarding some animal-related topics or human disease conditions. Understanding important knowledge gaps, attitudes, and high disease-risk practices of the public allows for targeted, effective discussions with clients on this topic.
