Ansaldo Caldaie (now AC BOILERS) 650 MW Utility Boilers firing gas and heavy oil: an experience overview

The Abu Qir 6&7 boiler island project, including 2 x 650 MW gas / heavy oil (Mazout) fired units for West Delta Electricity Production Company (WDEPC)-one of the major regional Utilities belonging to the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company-was successfully completed by Ansaldo Caldaie (now AC Boilers, according to the new company name) in the years 2012 / 2013, the units have been in continuous commercial operation for three years following the successful execution of the performance test. The overall power plant project execution, consisting of several equipment packages, has been carried out under the coordination of the Egyptian Power Generation Engineering and Services Company (PGESCo). AC Boilers (formerly Ansaldo Caldaie) is the largest Italian BOILER – Original Equipment Manufacturer with 150 years’ experience in Steam Generation and Burner Technology associated to an installed worldwide capacity exceeding 80,000 MWe. AC Boilers leading technologies are oil, gas, coal fired Utility Boilers, either subcritical and supercritical / ultra-supercritical, low NOx firing systems as well as horizontal/vertical HRSGs for Combined Cycles.
