1. Alkaline peroxide treatment improves the pulp strength by increasing the bonding strength as a result of acid groups on the surface of fibres/fines. Higher peroxide addition does show effect on improving tensile strength, but have positive effect on brightness. 2. For high freeness SFP pulp, oxygen treatment shows similar results in increasing pulp strength properties, compared with alkaline peroxide. 3. Ozone treatment could improve pulp strength from both surface modification and fibre wall collapse. Ozone treatment could also facilitates subsequent LC refining.
