1 3 step numerical approach is developed to quantify the sensor measurement performance 2 First step is to predict SCR inlet NH_3 through spray analysis 3 Second step is to calculate the SCR outlet NO_x and NH_3 slip through reaction modeling 4 Last step is to track the species from SCR outlet to sensor plane and quantify the distribution 5 A case study is presented using the approach and it is shown that even with good flow and NH_3 distribution, sensor plane species distribution can differ significantly 6 Using the methodology, SCR outlet mixer optimization is conducted and proposed an optimized design 7 In conclusion, in order to quantify the NO_x sensor performance, it is required to include the SCR kinetic models along with urea spray modeling
