Manufacturing and selling Electric Vehicles creates a long term commitment Cost effective service and repair solutions are important for customer satisfaction to build trust for the new product. The employer of service technicians (Vehicle OEM, repair shop operator) has to ensure compliance with work place safety regulations. For transportation, Lithium Ion battery systems are classified as dangerous goods and must be packaged by qualified people in certified packaging and declared accordingly. At end of vehicle life electric vehicle components can be re-used as spare parts or qualified for stationary usage (second use) or must be recycled. At the end of battery life the battery system must be recycled. (1) Re-use of battery material at same level, e.g. cathode material becomes cathode material, requires further research.
