Nanoindentation has recently been introduced as feasible method for adhesion measurement directly at the cell wall-adhesive interface. Using this method, two experiments were performed. Firstly we investigated the origin of bond strength development for an increased hot pressing time at the example of either maple or beech wood veneers bonded with UF-adhesive. A second experiment dealt with the influence of wood moisture content at the time of bonding on the final bond strength of a wood-adhesive system for various adhesives.
