摘要

The paper gives a brief overview of the layout of the Project and the RCC Dam and concentrates on the installation,recording and study of the results of the strain gauges and stress meters which had been installed during the construction of the RCC dam.First the idea of introducing of strain gauge and stress meter instruments will be explained.The data are very useful to get a better picture of early temperatures,deformations and stresses of the RCC.The experience gained is very important for the understanding of the thermal stresses and strain capacity of the concrete.These recorded data help to improve the thermal analysis of RCC dams and to take early measures at the construction site to prevent thermal surface cracking.For mid and long term,the recorded data show tendencies over time for temperature,deformation and stress changes.Effects due to reservoir impounding and cold winter or hot summer periods could be observed as well as effects of additional heat sources such as construction of the CVC Spillway Chute,which was built on top of the RCC downstream face of the Upper Paunglaung Dam.The paper presents all relevant results and interpretation and try to give an preliminary conclusion for the thermal behaviour of the RCC in Upper Pannglaung.
