Lithium-ion batteries are used extensively for mobile devices, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems. To use them safely and efficiently, it is necessary to estimate the state of charge (SOC) with high accuracy. We propose a real-time highly accurate SOC estimation algorithm for a battery management system that estimates the open circuit voltage (OCV) based on battery information (e.g., voltage, current) and determines the SOC by accessing a correlation database of OCV and SOC.
