The Yokohama-North tunnel is a long urban road tunnel that was opened to the Metropolitan Expressway in Japan this spring. In the middle of the tunnel, there exists a ramp way and a ventilation system with a supply-exhaust shaft (Baba ventilation station). The air supply nozzle on the supply-exhaust shaft presents particular limitations, which necessitate performance different from regular air supply nozzles. Therefore, we used CFD analysis to design an air supply nozzle and determine its shape. In addition, we hereby report on the verification testing of an actual tunnel following route completion.
