Spectrally Efficient Frequency Division Multiplexing (SEFDM) signals are considered to be an alternative to OFDM signals in the future telecommunication systems. The state of the art SEFDM DFT receiving techniques can be easily implemented on the basis of OFDM-transceivers. However, such detection algorithms exhibit poor error performance. In this paper it is proved that apart from channel noise the DFT-based detection error performance is determined by both aliasing and intercarrier interference effects. The optimization method is derived, providing intercarrier interference and aliasing impact minimization on DFT-detection BER performance for ASK-manipulated SEFDM signals by determination of appropriate SEFDM parameters. The parameters values was found providing DFT-based SEFDM detection performance approach to ML error performance. The results of the theoretical analysis are confirmed by numerical simulations.
