NOx and SOx Simultaneous Removal System for Exhaust Gas of Glass Melting Furnace Using Plasma-Chemical Hybrid Process

As for the treatment of exhaust gas emitted from glass melting furnaces, SOx (SO2 + SO3) is removed by a desulfurization process, or a semi-dry process. NOx (NO + NO2) emission regulations are not as strict as those of SOx, because conventional denitration methods are not able to be applied for exhaust gas of glass melting furnaces which contain catalyst-poison materials such as sulfate. Therefore, NOx is generally released into the atmosphere without aftertreatment.
