摘要

Particulate matter (PM), a complex mixture of solid and liquid particles, is suggested to be the air pollutant that affects human health, particularly contributing to cardiorespiratory diseases. Current studies suggest that fine PM with diameter 2.5μm or less (PM2.5) might impose higher health risks upon its potential of penetrating deep into the lungs due to its small size. In Japan, suspended particulate matters (SPM) characterized with diameters smaller than PM10 has been monitored since 1970s.
