This research focuses on characterizing nanoparticles released from three different kinds of nanosilver spray products as well as assessing the human exposure risk. Three commercial spray include a surface disinfecting spray and two shoes deodorant spray (labeled as spray A, B, C) with the container volume of 100, 200, 220 ml, respectively. Spray A uses hand-pump dispenser while gas propellant dispensers are used for Spray B and C. A small wind tunnel consists of a long pipe of 10.5 cm (ID) was used for testing nanoparticles released from the spray cans at the flow rate of 400 L/min corresponding to the residence time of 1.3 sec (Figure 1). An ELPI (Elect r ical Low Pressure Impactor, Ver1.2, Dekat i Corp. , Tampere, Finland) was used to the measure aerosol size distribution 1 m away from the spraying source at 1-sec interval. A MOUDI (Micro-Orifice Uniform Deposit Impactor, Model 110, MSP Corp., MN, USA) was also used to sample aerosols simultaneously for 30 minutes.
