Levels of PBDEs in the Air-conditioning System Filter Dust in the Of fices and Cleanrooms from Color Filter Manufacturing Facilities

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are only used as fire retardants in a wide variety of consumer pr oducts including vehicles, aircraft, building materials, electronics, and foam and upholstery in furnishings. PBDEs are highly lipophilic and can accumulate in huma n fatty tissues.PBDEs have been detected in most human specimens such as cord blood, breast milk, ve nous blood, placenta, and fatty tissues to cause seve ral adverse health effects (Chao et al. 2014a). Indoor dust is one of main exposure routes for the adults particularly for the occupational exposure. Turesson et al. (2012) indicated that PBDEs were found in th e indoor air and indoor dust in the resident houses, apartments, daycares, offices, and vehicles and BDE-209 was the predominant congener. Few studies are investigated PBDEs in the air-conditioned filter (AC F) dust collected from color filter manufacturing pla nts.
