Air pollution caused by PM is a problem in East and South Asian areas. Especially the problem of PM2.5 in China is serious. In stationary sources, dust collectors are installed for dust collection. Bag filter system is widely used for medium-scale stationary sources. The filter media is used for the Bag filter system. PPS is widely used for the material of the filter media. Physical performance of filter media mostly degrades with time because of long time exposure under severe conditions such as hot and/or corrosive gas condition. When filter media is exposed to hot and/or corrosive gas atmosphere such as NOx, SOx, HCl and moisture etc., those gases will interact with materials in fibers and thus affect crystallinity and/or other bonding of molecules in fiber, i.e., decompose fiber in the media some extent. Hence it results irreversible damage to media and weaken its physical performances like tensile strength, elongation and so on. There are several studies about deterioration of a PPS filter media by NOx, details of the above mentioned process have not been understood well yet.
