摘要

In this paper,setting a computer model of the surface subsidence after the collapse of a mine using the field data collected from the boreholes is described with all nuances.The site of the interest is at Naburn in North Yorkshire.Simulations are performed using the commercial software FLAC3D.Different constitutive models have been used in order to compare the obtained results.Special attention is given to numerically simulating the processes of the underground settlement.The interpretation of the field data is not easy because the simplification has to be made without losing the reality of the modeled process.Scarcity of data related to the characteristics of the distressed and caved (goaf or gob) zones around coal mining excavations makes the numerical prediction of coal mining-induced subsidence even more difficult.In this paper,the authors derive appropriate input parameters for the numerical model using borehole data,with all the necessary justifications provided.
