There has been growing interest for researchers to access the reservoir and sorption characteristics of different coal seams and coalbed methane throughout China and the world.However, it is not easy to find such information due to a few reasons..Research on CBM is a relatively new phenomenon and a lot of data are only available recently.Different researchers might use different terms to describe the same properties of CBM which pose difficulty for people to use.The available data is scattered in hundreds of research articles and there is a need to find a way to integrate those data.In this work, we have collected a serious research papers and extracted the properties of CBM.A detailed analysis and steps were taken in order to filter out unnecessary information prior to performing the actual relational database design.The normalization technique was applied in order to reduce the data redundancy and anomaly issues.We used the Entity-Relationship diagram to present the final database design.At the end, a sample database was created which is a collection of reservoir and sorption characteristics of CBM reservoirs.The data were organized by basin and researchers could easily retrieve the range and statistics information about the available data based on each basin.
