For complex processes a computer model or a series of physical based equations can be developed to explain the behaviours. However, in many cases there is a need to make simplified calculations to allow a solution to be found. There is great strength in this approach which lies in the predictive behaviour of the models due to the underlying science in any theory developed. This implies the science can be written down!
