With applying of multithreading technology in Superscalar architecture, the new problem is that multi-threaded processor makes the consumption problem within runtime be more significant. In the interest of the impact on overall performance and power consumption caused by key functional units in multi-threaded architecture, we built a multi-core multi-threaded architecture combined in the simulator, and study whether there would be a distinct different on performance and consumption between the multi-core architecture with multi-threading support and without in the same logical cores circumstances. The results show that the multi-core architecture with single thread consumes less energy. On this basis, we propose a modification of functional units. The results show that our scheme makes the performance of SMT-CMP exceeds the CMP 34.3% and power reduction reaches 73% of CMPs.
