For overcoming the lack of empirical mode decomposition, using the ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) to analysis the multiscale characteristic of Han River natural runoff time series in Danjiangkou station, revealing the change trend of each intrinsic mode functions and the influence factors. Experimental results show that the EEMD as a new multiresolution processing method can more accurately extract different fluctuation cycle component of annual runoff time series. The EEMD has a broad application prospect in the analysis of hydrology and water resources.
