The productivity of blast furnaces has been increased world-wide over the past years and today is at quite a highlevel. This progress has been rendered possible also by the fact that there has been some reorientation in the blastfurnace drainage of hot metal and slag. Based on many years of experience in different tapping practices, technicalimprovements have been implemented at the blast furnaces of ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe. This report shows thelong-term influence of different tapping practices in according the cast house activities. The operational analysis isbased on 20 years of long-term experience at BF2, ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe.
