The calculation of welding residual stresses so far can be obtained at best on very small models, because of calculationtimes that can exceed several days. Simplifications often lead to wrong or at least inaccurate results becauseof the lack of experimental verification. The project attempts to improve the feasibility of calculations, which are aprerequisite for an assessment with regard to the strength behavior. Furthermore, experiments will validate theresults. Evidence of transferability of calculations on a reduced scale to the original size provides the basis for apractical implementation. Since calculation tasks are mainly processed by engineering firms, the aim of the resultsof this project is to provide significant innovative and economic potential for small and medium-sized enterprises.
