Laser-melted Inconel 718: Processing Parameters and Heat Treatment - (PPT)

Above a threshold value, energy density variations have little effect on UTS and microstructure; HIP, Solution Heat Treat and Age increase tensile properties to surpass AMS minimum specifications; HIP is necessary to heal internal voids and cracks; HIP temperature should be chosen to minimize grain growth but fully heal void/crack type defects.
