Financial analysts are probably the most influential group of experts for investors. Their importance becomes evident "every quarter when companies' earnings announcements are followed by sometimes drastic stock price adjustments when the actual earnings deviate from expectations" (Srinivasan and Hanssens 2009, p. 293). In the past, multiple studies in finance have looked at the sources of information that analysts apply to come to sound opinions of the future development of firms.
