The Development and Operating Experience of MHPS’s Advanced Gas Turbine

MHPS’s advanced series Gas turbines capabilities, status updates and future trends are included in this paper. M701F4, M701F5 i.e. the latest 50Hz F-Series Gas turbine upgrades and an update on the revolutionary J-Series Gas turbine are essentially covered. The technological features and operating updates of M701F4 Gas turbine, twenty nine (29) of which are sold globally with eighteen (18) units already in commercial operation, is included. The M701F4 verified performance results validated the predicted performance parameters such as net plant efficiency more than 59%, NOx emissions less than 15 ppm etc. Leveraging on the advanced gas turbine technology introduced into the J-Series gas turbines, M701F5 Gas turbine is enabled to operate at increased “Turbine Inlet Temperature” previously limited to G Series Gas turbines. This upgraded Gas turbine is expected to achieve Combined Cycle net efficiency in excess of 61%. J series Gas turbine emerged as a result of constant endeavor for delivering state of art machines. This high-end machine on combined cycle mode can deliver efficiency in excess of 61.5%. . MHPS’s “T-point”, an in-house verification plant act as the real time validation facility for all new technologies. In this facility the validation test with the actual 60Hz J series Gas turbine (M501J) was completed and the commercial operation has started from June 2011. This successful operation has facilitated the sales of twenty nine (29) J Series machines, twenty seven (27) 60Hz units and two (2) 50Hz units, out of which nine (9) units are already in commercial operation.
