Pro-active HRSG lifetime management for improved reliability

Many combined cycle power plant owners realise their greatest profits during the peak demand months of the year. During these months, it is important that they can count on reliable service of their plant, with no surprises. For a combined cycle power plant, the HRSG is in many cases the second most important potential contributor to reliability losses, after the gas turbine. Many potential causes of loss of HRSG availability can be prevented with the implementation of a good pro-active asset management program. To prevent is better than to cure. Prevention starts by having a thorough understanding of what can go wrong. This insight is then used to develop a program based on off-line HRSG inspections and on line condition monitoring.
