The mineral spatial distribution in Carajas' Iron Ore from the N4 WS deposit is already known by semi-quantitative methods of reflectance spectroradiometry and other petrophysical studies (Ferreira, 2015 and Prado et al. 2016) which were used for characterisation of the local iron ore. With them it was possible identify the main lithotypes of the ore and even subdivide them into other more specific categories regarding their mineral composition (Fig. 1). But knowing the quantitative phase proportions and its redox properties are essential for the next step of mineral processing and also solving questions regarding iron oxide-hydroxide phase transformation control. This study aims with the use of 57Fe Mossbauer Spectrometry to identify and characterize the iron ore of the N4WS deposit by the study of the drill core F1051, which contains the main lithotypes of the iron ore extracted there.
