Numerical study of Thermal Stratification in T-Junction

In our present work, we present the numerically transfer heat and thermal stratification that may occur in an elbow with T-junction. More specifically, in this analysis, we purpose the visualization of the temperature field in order to locate the thermal stratification. The parameters studied are: i) the inlet cold water velocity and ii) the location and the size of the T-junction. The governing equations system about flow and heat transfer is solved numerically. The mesh was created using the software Gambit. Calculations and post processing were performed with the FLUENT code. Parametric simulations have been performed. The results are compared to those reports in the experimental literature.
