We utilized graphene oxide (GO) as a support to grow nickel, silver, gold (Ni, Ag, Au) and iron oxide (Fe_3O_4) nanoparticles (NPs). The synthesis was facile, simple, and scalable. Anchored NPs were stable against the aggregation. Ni, Ag, and Au NPs grown on GO exhibited high catalytic activity towards the reduction of 4-nitrophenol, while Fe_3O_4 NPs grown on GO exhibited good magnetic properties.
