Design of offshore facilities varies from location to location and most of the time dependent on complex assessment of production philosophy, hydrocarbon reserves, distance to nearest base or land, nearby platform, reservoir management and assumption on field life economics’. In Malaysia, one of the major field operator acquires and had develops a significant numbers of minimal platform facilities. Managing small jackets and monopod platforms is a very difficult task not only for routine maintenances and daily production activities, but also especially for production enhancement activities for instance acidizing, water shut off, perforation and well integrity such as control line and packer leak remedial that are still in need to be done in safe and economical manner. Experience and best practices that one field operator’s in South China Sea amass throughout 15 years handling such field and well work is immense. As example, a severely leak downhole safety valve (DSV) that conventionally remedial with top completion workover has been practically and successfully rectified by installing new through tubing control line with specialized wireline retrievable DSV. Other advance application and technology embrace by this operator to address the platform limitation is a real time slickline that has the capability of an electric line but still adopting the flexibility and lightness of a slickline unit. This paper will share experiences, case studies, best practices and advancements made by the company in achieving production target and well integrity compliance.
