摘要

The purpose of this paper is to highlight the challenges and recommended processes involved in carbonate pinnace-reef velocity modeling.The geometry of the reefal buildups,combined with the lack of well data on the flanks result in a challenging scenario for velocity model building due to the contrasting velocity trends of the carbonates and the overburden shale.Real world field examples are also included to better demonstrate the points discussed in this paper.
