The paper presents research results of the study on influence of the blast loads on the protective capacity of ship hull structure, made out of layered composites. A scenario to evaluate the behavior of the ship structure plate under blast loading approached with Friedlander exponential decay equation is presented. The nonlinear analysis on a 3-D FEM model by using layered composite elements was performed. According to the methods proposed in this paper an individual pressure-time history to each element based on its distance from the explosion point is assigned. The dynamic response, the maximum von Mises stress obtained in the middle of the sides of the layered composite plate is shown.
