Down to 50 microBq of alpha activity in up to 100 g of particulate material can be processed nondestructively. Many hundreds of individual hot particles can produce population information during the screening process. Chemical or isotopic information may require subsampling. Applications include identification of contamination leaks, characterization of environmental radioactivity or the tracking of industrial materials.
