LH621 - the Strongest Hardrock LHD in the World Enters Salt and Potash Applications

Sandvik is a leading supplier of LHD's for various underground mining applications, especially in hardrock mining. The LH621 is the biggest underground diesel loader in the market. But due to the preconception in the industry that LHD's designed for ore mining were to robust and not suitable to be used in salt and potash applications it should last until 2011 to see the first LH621 in a softrock mine. But the comparisons and investigations prior to the first project and during operation showed that the requirements in both areas do not differ as much as expected. To transform a world class hardrock LHD into high performance loader for salt and potash mines only slight modifications in specification and special care regarding shaft lowering measures were necessary. The key features of the machine led to similar positive results as in all other applications.
