摘要

Arsenic in drinking water was associated to higher cancer incidence. To analyze the risk of prostate cancer in relation to arsenic and occupational exposure in subjects with different dietary patterns, a case control study was conducted in Cordoba, Argentina during 2008-2013. Subjects were interviewed about lifestyle and, sociodemographic characteristics. A two level logistic regression model was fitted using prostate cancer status as the outcome. Age, occupational exposure, dietary patterns and arsenic in drinking water were included as covariates in the first level taking into account family history of cancer as the variance component in the second level. Exposure to high levels of arsenic combined to occupational exposure in rural workers constitute a significant risk increase in prostate cancer occurrence. High levels of arsenic content in drinking water and adhesion to unhealthy dietary patterns have an important role on prostate cancer risk.
