Basic study for the establishment of criteria and priorities in health coverage and water quality for La Pampa province, Argentina, 2012-2015

La Pampa is one of the Argentine provinces with the highest contents of arsenic (As) in water. For this reason, the Ministry of Health and the Water Resources Secretary of the Nation performed studies to evaluate the water quality in Argentina. These studies will take into account that the WHO recommendation (provisionally setting the maximum acceptable value of As in water in 10 μg/L) implies to our country a significant economic cost. The goal is to conduct an epidemiological assessment of the health impact of the consumption of water with As in all locations of the country, in order to give better supports on acceptable values of As in water and to provide the financial resources to improve the access to water throughout the country. This study refers to La Pampa province.
