摘要

Traffic congestion is one of the serious problems in all the mega-cities. It is evolving with rapid growth of population. To overcome the challenge, this study proposes an intelligent system that can optimize the road traffic in real-time without having a huge infrastructural change by using vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET), and the swarm intelligence of natural environmental agent called ant colony optimization (ACO). VANET is an emerging new technology integrating ad hoc network and wireless cellular technology to achieve inter-vehicle communications. The ACO algorithm is very powerful in solving optimization problems which helps to build a very efficient routing. The proposed system can provide an improved platform to consider the traffic movement and congestion pattern for avoiding the traffic blockage.
