In view of the phenomena that coal rib is be susceptible to spalling for rise mining with great mining height, analytic method is applied to reveal mechanism of the rib spalling of rise mining with great mining height and great large dip angle.The rib spalling laws with dip angle and mining height increasing is studied by numerical simulation.Results show chances of shear failure and furthermore rib spalling get up with dip angle increasing.Under certain geological conditions,rib spalling is serious when the dip angle is over 10°.According to the rib spalling of rise mining in Duanwang mine, the chemical grouting and reinforced technology is applied to improve the stability of coal and rock mass.And the roof accidents due to the rib spalling are eliminated.So the technology ensures the successful mining operation of the working face.
